How Our Products Perform Natural Cremation

Veterinarians have been using a process similar to Alkaline Hydrolysis for years now, but it is becoming more common for processing human corpses worldwide.

Within an ECO-Green Cremation System, the body is immersed in a 1:21 solution of potash lye and water. Gas-powered steam generators build up pressure within the tank as the temperature rises up to around 170 degrees Celsius. Since the pressure is so high there is no boiling – only a chemical reaction that completely liquefies everything but the bone and any implants or prosthetics the deceased may have had.

The liquid is drained from the tank and processed to a pH of less than 8. Since it is a sterile fluid that is a collection of human building blocks: salts, sugars, peptides, and amino acids, it is nutrient-rich and is perfect for returning to the soil to help our plants grow.

When the ECO-Green Cremation System is opened only the bone ash and any  implants or prosthetics remain. The bone ash, pure calcium phosphate, can be collected for proper handling by the deceased’s family, or can even be used in horticulture, ceramics, or as a raising agent. Finally, any implants or prosthetics can be recovered in pristine condition, sterilized, repackaged for reuse, or simply recycled.

Cremations can be commingled, where the remains can touch and mix, or non-commingled, where the remains do not touch.

Currently this process is only available in the United States, where more than 2,000 natural cremations have been performed so far. Additionally, several green groups are championing this technology all over the world.
